Agricultural Program in Yei

There are 3+ acres on the YWAM base in Yei to begin an agricultural
program. We have prayed and feel the Lord is directing us to present a
YWAM model in the community of how to be good stewards of the land. And
by this we mean how to benefit from the land that the Lord has
entrusted to us. Also how to improve the land, causing it to multiply
as was proposed in Mt. 25:21 about the “good and faithful steward”. Our
future prayer is for more than 3 acres be developed.

Second we have a need to provide food for the YWAM base members and to
provide lunches to the Pre-School pupils that come to our base for
education.

Third is to lay a good foundation for the next generation citizens of
Yei that will learn techniques of farming as they watch this
Agricultural Program.

Fourthly is to impact the young men of Yei to develop a vision of
agriculture as a self-reliance vocation.
Fifthly this program will create jobs for those idle boys and girls of
Yei as they are hired to work in this program.

Sixthly the life will on the YWAM base will become easier as the food
availability and variety improves.
Seventh we hope to begin the program of planting this year, 2010, in
March when the rainy season is upon us. This means we need to begin
clearing the land immediately to prepare for planting.

PEOPLE INVOLVED

First the YWAM base staff who have the heart and calling to the
Agricultural Program and also to minister in agricultural ways to the
community.

Secondly the people from the community will also be involved.

Thirdly the beneficiaries of the program will be the YWAM base, as well
as the YWAM Pre-School (named Redeem Preschool and Primary).

Fourthly the Yei community.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to reach out to the Yei community through relationship
and this agriculture program, hoping they will become bonded to the YWAM
base.

OBJECTIVES and GOALS;

Our objective is to see that in one to three years the families around
the YWAM base shall see something new and they will be able to
demonstrate what they have learned from the YWAM base.

Secondly the base will become strongly rooted in the Yei community in
relationships.
Thirdly we hope the community will “buy into” the ideas and visions
presented in this project.
Fourthly we hope the community will be lead to Christ through our
witnessing to them in relationships.

ELEMENTS;

To achieve all of this we will need the following elements;

Two pairs of Bulls for pulling the plow: We plan to use Bulls
because they are a bit cheaper than a tractor. They won’t need petrol.
They can work around trees where a tractor can not work.
Medicines for Bulls: Each Bull will require a certain amount of
medicines for de-worming, preventing ticks, spray, and for vitamins.
Two Oxen-Plows: Both two-Bull pair will pull one plow each.
Seeds: We plan to plant Maize, Beans, Peanunts, Onions, Tomatoes,
Cassava, and many other plants.

Sprayer: The crops and the animals will need spraying.
Insecticides: This chemical will prevent pests.

Irrigation: We are praying to construct a new generator-electric
water-well on this new portion of the base that will serve the proposed
agriculture project and the new development of classrooms, dormitories,
staff housing, library, dining, and maintenance.

Fence: The agricultural project will need a 4-wire barbed fence
surrounding 3+ acres of garden. Also the animals will need a similar
fence on ½ acre.
Harvesting Tools: We need two Oxen Yokes, one Oxen Cart, 5 wheel
barrows, hoes, machetes, rakes, general hardware.

Harvest Storage: We need a large shipping container and we’ll
have to construct a similar brick building to warehouse the crop.
Transport: We plan to purchase a motorized cart (like a motor
cycle) to transport to/from town efficiently.

Labor: We need hired farm help for clearing the land.
YWAM Sudan- George & Anna in Yei

George and Anna have been involved with Bible training and mission trips
with their church in Soroti, Uganda. In 2007 they went to Sudan for
the first time. Since that day they have had a strong burden for Sudan.
Later that year they took part in the Crossroads Discipleship Training
School (CDTS) with YWAM Arua in Uganda. Their outreach took them to
Sudan for a second time and their heart to work there continued to grow.
In 2008, they returned to Sudan to staff a DTS and considered working
long-term in Sudan. They took the outreach to a remote area of Sudan.
The people welcomed them and were very hungry for the Gospel. This was
confirmation to them that they should be in Sudan long-term. In 2009
they moved to Yei, Sudan with their two orphans they adopted.

George and Anna's vision is to work with the Sudanese to see them
prosper after the long years of war. They hope to teach them new
agriculture techniques that will help them improve their situation in
life. They have a passion to share the Gospel and work in
discipleship. They hope to work with the children to give them new
hope for the future.

Anna has a desire to attend the DTS coming up in July '10.

They are currently in need of finances to for their visas to stay in
Sudan. It is $50 per month per person.

Please Pray with Us…

• For God help us carry our vision forward in Sudan
•	For finances to cover the school fees of the two orphans we adopted
•	For support to help us cover our staff fees and stay in Sudan
long-term
•	Wisdom to make good decisions

If you would like to give to these projects, donations can be sent to:
Sudanese Strategic Alliance, PO BOX 60579, Colorado Springs, CO 80960.
Please make checks payable to "YWAM" and do not write "Sudan" anywhere
on the check. Enclose a note that states "Sudan- George & Ana" so
we can know how to designate the money. Or you can go online to

*"SP"did his Discipleship Training School (DTS) 2002 in a remote
location in Sudan. After his DTS over the following two years he helped
lead two DTS schools in remote regions in Sudan and took part in a
leadership training in Egypt. At the end of 2005 he joined a relief and
development organization in a remote location in Sudan. For two and a
half years he worked with several groups to bring improvements in that
region. In 2009 he traveled to New Zealand for two-year internship with
YWAM there.

His vision is to create a partnership between YWAM New Zealand and YWAM
Sudan to enable them to send missionaries from there to Sudan. Also
while in New Zealand I hope to learn ways to deal with administration so
we can apply these ideas in YWAM Sudan. My heart is that this
partnership would help the Kingdom of God grow in Sudan.

Please Pray with me…

• That God would give me a sound mind for planning for his people
• For God’s protection while I travel and minister
•	For God’s provision for my travel and continued ministry
Four Sudanese into their second term at the School of Biblical Studies

Four Sudanese YWAMers have started their second term at the School of
Biblical Studies (in a remote location). There are thirteen student in
all that are in this school and five on the leadership team. The school
is going great and the students are so committed and hungry for God's
word. The students are enjoying their studies and are growing in the
knowledge of the Bible and the knowledge of God.

One of the Sudanese students came with the aim to take the school back
to Sudan. He is a leader and has lead 3 DTSs and staffed. His plan is to
complete his SBS here this year then next year he will staff at the
remote location where the SBS is being held to increase his training.

Praise Report:
We have accepted more than half of the students without money, which is a
great challenge that is more than our ability to carry alone, but God
has lift up our heads and we had our first term covered ;-) praise God

Please pray for:
- Concentration for the students, and grace to study.
- We need protection and grace
- We need God's to reveal himself more to the students and to change
them for His image.
- and please pray for the staff members and for me the leader of the
school, for our personal needs and for protection and grace. and for the
vision God put in our heart to establish a Biblical center in Sudan at a
remote location
-God would continue to provide - 20,000 EGP is needed for this term and
the next term 50,000 EGP will be needed

Preschool in Yei

"Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not
turn from it."
-Proverbs 22:6

The Preschool in Yei was established in 2005 where forty children
started to receive education. Today the school has flourished to over
one hundred children. Primary levels have been expanded and added every
year. There are now three levels in the preschool and two levels in the
primary classes.

What makes the preschool in Yei unique?

The preschool in Yei provides education for children that live in
surrounding tribes in the area where there is no education that is
readily available. There are only a handful of primary schools in
southern Sudan to assist about 3 percent of the population and nearly
next to nothing secondary schools in the cities. Education for children
living on the outskirts and deep in the bush is non-existence.The
Preschool in Yei has been providing education to children that are on
the outskirts for over five years now.

Lokuta, a Sudanese, serves leading the Preschool in Yei. He has a heart
for the children of Sudan to be raised with a good education and with
the love of Jesus in their hearts.

Please pray for:

Wisdom for Lokuta to lead the preschool
Expanding the building of the school
Local materials to be supplied
Only Grace clinic in Yei, Southern Sudan

Here is an update from Santos, the new base administrator in YWAM Yei.
He is giving us an update and prayer requests for the small clinic YWAM
runs out of the base in Yei, southern Sudan...

"...This clinic was the first health facilities to be established in
this area around the YWAM base in Yei, southern Sudan. There has been
no clinic in this immediate area since before the war... The coming of
YWAM in this area was as like a redeemer and in real sense this has
made a big difference in this area. Through the Only Grace first aid
clinic many people have received their healing. This is because the
drugs are not only just given to the patients, but it is given to them
with prayers and encouragement. God has been so faithful in performing
many miracles. Also many children have been also delivered in this
clinic, despite the fact that it is only meant to be a first aid
center. It has been serving population of more than five hundred
people both adults and children in this community.

Therefore, I want thank God who has been gracious to us. So friends and
partners in the Lord, if you feel like seeing this ministry of God in
Sudan continue serving this community both spiritually and physically
please stand with us...

Prayers Needs
1. More volunteers to serve, because for the moment am the only
one.
2. Financial support for having more drugs in place for basic
treatment.
3. To have a delivering ward(room) because for the moment we are
sharing the facilities with the base administration, which can be
challenging.
4. More local staff to be sent to take basic training in health
sector.
5. For more wisdom and protection upon the current workers."

Thank God for this clinic and the many staff and volunteers that have
served in it. Continue to pray that God will sustain and grow the
ministry.
